The house is on the side of the hill with a large wood at the back. The large mature garden is well maintained and contains various trees, mature bushes, and a vegetable garden. The wood provides fuel for the wood burning fire in the lounge. The kitchen is a good size and is partially open to the lounge, a large room containing seating area, dining area and a partitioned utility area. There are three patio doors, two leading to the garden at either end of the lounge and the third giving onto the swimming pool. The shower room/wc is also on the ground floor.
Upstairs there is a large hall giving acess to 3 bedrooms and the large bathroom/wc. The two main bedrooms contain mezzanines, which could be used as additional bedrooms. Both main bedrooms open onto the terrace providing beautiful views accross the valley. There is a 2 car garage with two access points. The garage also contains a small storage area and has steps leading to the wine cellar. The attic is large and lined with board. Insulation is twice the required amount keeping the house warm in winter.
The road is a cul de sac so there is no passing traffic. The local community is very friendly. The farmer at the end of the road will give you manure if you ask and has never let me pay for eggs. I have a very nice local man to help me with the garden and his wife will clean if asked. The man who looks after the pool is 'une creme' so helpful to me!
The town of Argentat is 6km away. It contains three supermarkets, several GPs, Dentists, chemists, banks, shops, cafes, restaurants and the best Patisserie in the area. There is a regular, large Foire (market) in the town and specialist markets in the summer. Argentat also boasts a cinema often showing previews of major films and English films subtitled rather than dubbed. Argentat has a library with a large selection of books, and a bookshop selling many books in English run by a very helpful woman who organises film viewing and talks. There is also an aqua centre aimed main at children and teenagers.
There are many activities available in the area such as fishing, rock climbing, horse riding, delta plane, windsurfing, waterskiing, motocross etc. In Argentat there is a very good health club run by the physiotherapists, providing gym classes, Yoga, Tai Chi and other marshal arts. There are also dance classes, and a local choir giving concerts throughout the year.
The area is well situated for sking in the Lioran an hour and half away, there are many lakes providing safe swimming areas, the Lot is close by as is The Dordogne, whose river runs through Argentat.
There are concerts known as Concerts du Cloitre at the cathedral in Tulle and in Brive. These towns also contain theatres. There are many festivals throughout the area.
Tulle has a Aqua Centre open all year with an olympic size pool, smaller pool and childrens pool inside and an outdoor pool open from April till October. The outdoor pool has a jacuzzi and massage jets. It is open all day in July and August.
Many complimentary therapists live in the area and there is a Homeopathic GP 10km away in Servieres le Chateau.
The area is unspoilt, full of woods with many types of mushrooms, such as ceps and girolles. There are organic farms locally, who provide weekly baskets, one of which sells wonderful organic goats cheese.
