Details
The building dates from around the late 17th century and the conversion was started in 2005. The building is now a luxurious five bedroom/five bathroom house of about 290 square metres of living space on two main floors.
KITCHEN 8.9m x 4.9m
Large and spacious with access to the outside patios both north (single door) and south (double doors). Two large windows overlooking the valley.
A central ‘bar’ island is finished in ‘colombage’. Three work surfaces are in solid oak and the other two (wet areas) are tiled. There are ample numbers of sockets both on the ‘bar’ island and around all four walls. There is also plumbing for American type fridges that need a water supply. The floor tiles are old traditional French red. Two large radiators usually heat the room, but at the far end there is a fireplace with a wood burner. A door leads into the dining area.
DINING AREA 5.5m x 3.4m
This has a south facing window over the valley. There is a dimmer switch for the ceiling light and the ceiling consists of massive Douglas fir beams. There are two twin wall lights.
Adjacent to the dining area there is a large open plan living area.
LOUNGE AREA 62 square metres.
All of the downstairs open plan area has underfloor heating and rustic ceramic tiles laid in the traditional French carpet patterns. Two huge windows, originally the old barn entrances, have double doors opening to the garden patios and face south west. There are two further windows also south west facing. The ceiling is 7 metres high and has huge original old oak timbers. There are plenty of electrical sockets and cinema surround sound speaker sockets allow wireless connection. Satellite and terrestrial sockets are also close to hand. There are separate Hi Fi sockets as well. A telephone socket is over by the stairs.
There is an internal corridor accessed via a door opposite the stairs. This leads to a downstairs toilet and sink and two en suite double bedrooms.
The stairs lead to a mezzanine floor, which is part of the open minstrel gallery.
MEZZANINE 5.3m x 3.4m
All the upstairs floors are made from Douglas fir. The floors are double layered and insulated for sound.
The stairs lead to this large open space currently used as a library/ quiet reading area.
There are two sockets and two lights. All of the upstairs is heated by radiators. Double doors from the mezzanine lead to the very large master bedroom. At the far end a small (four step) but wide (1.5m) staircase leads to the minstrel gallery.
MINSTRAL GALLERY
The mezzanine level leads to the minstral gallery via a wide four step set of stairs. The gallery has access to a utility room with both hot and cold water taps for washing machines and a tumble-dryer extractor.
Further down the gallery there is a second open space 2.4m x 3m which has access to two further en suite double bedrooms. This area also has a radiator.
